Thumbprint's Jeff Woerner Wins Cat 3 35+ Washington State Cyclocross Championship

Event Name:

Washington State Cyclocross Championship
Date:Saturday, November 20, 2010
Description:Thumbprint Racing's Jeff Woerner burst from the pack on the downhill of the last lap to win the Cat 3 35+ race at the Washington State Cyclocross Championship.

The Washington CX State Championship was held at Steilacoom Park on a blustery and cold day. The popular southern Puget Sound CX venue features everything from single track to barnyard chicanes, to orchards, rolling meadows, an epic lung-bursting run-up, long descent and fast pavement finish.

Apparently Woerner's Swedish fan club followed him to Steilacoom. The gaggle of Nordic blonds cornered Jeff near one of the red barns, intrigued by his last-lap tactics. They queried, "Mr. Jeff, why for you to make such a gap in the last lap?" As he kicked a bit of frozen dung in the barnyard, Woerner offered, "I didn't want to take a chance with a final sprint, so I surprised the competition today with an unconventional downhill attack on the last lap, got a gap, increased it up the last hill, bombed down to the flats and held on for the win." And that's why we love 'Cross!

Congratulations to Jeff Woerner for topping the podium and for another outstanding CX performance.

Thumbprint's Jeff Woerner Double Dips at MFG Cyclocross Finale

Event Name:MFG Woodland Park GP
Date:November 14th, 2010
Description:It was a wet, greasy and muddy track for MFG's season-ender at Woodland Park. Needing the equivalent of a velo-miracle to top the season series podium, Thumbprint's Jeff Woerner attacked early and often and was rewarded with second for the day and second for the overall series.

When asked how close he was to taking the top spot, Woerner responded with his signature grin, "2nd was the theme of the day...2nd place yesterday and 2nd in the series. To clinch the overall, I needed to win and the leader needed to finish near the back (which he almost did due to a broken rear derailleur). Gotta love cross!"

After the race Jeff was approached by a group of female Swedish exchange students inquiring about his yoked cross-physique. "Mister Woerner, please why for you to have such strong and heroic arms?" To which Woerner replied, "Well friends, the troops may be overseas, but the big guns are still at home." With that, he spun on his cleated shoes and headed for the podium. Ya sure, ya betcha!

Congratulations to Jeff and all 'Prints sporting the stealthy black IJM kits during 2010 cross season.
