Jack Frost Time Trial - Alex gets 4th

Alex
Event Name: Jack Frost Time Trial
Date: 26 Feb 2012
Description: flat, out and back TT
Cat 1-2 Men: 4th - Alex Telitsine

In the first TT of the season Alex - who upgraded to Cat 2 last summer - scores a top-10 result!

Time trialing has always been Alex's best (favorite?) discipline and no one can argue that he isn't good at it. Here's wishing "The Doctor" more success in 2012.

Lord Hill Trail Run - Martin gets 8th

11
Event Name: Lord Hill Trail Run
Date: 26 Feb 2012
Description: 10 mile loop, one big hill, lots of doubletrack and dirt road sections. There are 5 mile, 10 mile, 20 mile or 50 km options.
Men 20 mile: 8th - Martin Criminale

While the majority of this team is gearing up for the road racing season which kicks off in earnest NOW Martin is still squeezing in a couple of last minute trail runs.

This was an incredibly sloppy, greasy course! At times runners were surfing/sliding through the mud. At .8 miles in you hit "Oh my lord hill" which is straight up a grassy incline and it thins out the pack pronto. More muddy road, some singletrack, a creek crossing or two, repeat.

4th Dimension Racing (the promoter) really does a fantastic job. They also put on a Duathlon series in the winter and the NW Epic Series which is a series of longer MTB races in the summer.

Here is Martin's race report and here are all the pictures.

Fort Steilacoom Off-Road Duathlon - Martin gets 4th

CIMG8373
Event Name: Fort Steilacoom Off-Road Duathlon #3
Date: 18 February 2012
Description: 5 km run, 12 mile ride, 5 km run
Long Course Open Men: 4th - Martin Criminale
In typical NW winter weather (40 and rainy and windy) the last of the three-race 4th Dimension Duathlon Series was held at Fort Steilacoom.

Each week the legs have varied slightly keeping the competitors on their toes and this time the run included the hill from the first race but the bike leg was different yet again resulting in a 4-mile loop that the long course racers completed three times.

The race got off to a scorching fast start but Martin managed to pull back most of the racers that left him behind on the run while on the bike. This course seems to favor cyclocross bikes for sure but there are plenty of sketchy descents, side hills and greasy climbs. Lots of fun; especially if you are a spectator.

With this result Martin managed to get 2nd place in the series overall!

Here is Martin's race report.

West Side MTB Series #1 Dash Point State Park

05
Event Name: West Side MTB Series #1 Dash Point State Park
Date: 12 February 2012
Description: Twisty, turny with only short sections of straight, flat trail.
Expert Single Speed: 10th - Martin Criminale

The West Side MTB Series has been a staple of the NW for several years and and the first event in the six-race series was today at Dash Point State Park.

In a very competitive and BIG single speed field Martin managed to stoke his diesel engine just enough to pull off a top-10. Not known for his fast starts Martin kept it consistent and managed to reel some riders in on the last lap.

Here is Martin's race report and here are all the pictures.

The FareStart Cycling Team serves up dinner at… the FareStart Restaurant.

For the second year in a row we have volunteered to wait tables at the FareStart Guest Chef Night. This year was another extremely rewarding experience.
Ever since we founded this team we have ridden in the name of a charity (or two). From the very beginning FareStart has been one of these charities and for 2012 we decided to go all in as they say and we have put all our eggs in the FareStart basket by riding in their name exclusively. It has become abundantly clear to us that this was an excellent decision as it is incredibly easy to have a very real and positive impact on our community by helping them out. Our tag line, "leave your mark" couldn't be more true.
